Overview

Oral and maxillofacial surgery is the surgical branch of dentistry that merges the skill and acumen acquired in dentistry with the knowledge and confidence of medical surgical specialty by treating minor surgical to major in-patient surgical treatments.

From the humble beginning of dental background, confined to treating difficult extractions, impacted teeth and jaw pathologies. From treating of facial bone fractures the specialty has gradually widened its expertise to handle the pre-cancerous lesion and benign lesions of oral cavity.

The Department is responsible for management of maxillofacial trauma in 300 bedded medical center and hospital. Round the clock service, outpatient- inpatient and emergency service is provided by a team of experienced maxillofacial surgeons.

Our Areas of Expertise

Surgical procedures carried out in the outpatient department are

  • Transalveolar extractions or surgical removal of impacted tooth
  • Cystic enucleation
  • Space infection management
  • Biopsy
  • Pre-prosthetic surgeries including Alveoloplasty, Frenectomy, Ridge augmentation, Tuberoplasty, vestibuloplasty…
  • Endodontic periapical surgeries.
  • Medical emergency management and basic life support.
  • Minor trauma management of facial bone fractures including   intermaxillary fixation, arch bars, per alveolar wiring, etc.

Major surgical procedures carried in general anaesthesia are

  • Emergency Facial-trauma management.
  • Maxillofacial fracture management.
  • Orthognathic surgical procedures.
  • Surgical Excision of Cyst & Benign tumours.
  • Cleft and craniofacial procedures.
  • Temporo mandibular joint surgeries.
